2015/11/10 (Tuesday)

Previous Day

Current setup: iZIP mode, DIB1/2/3 → cables → 3.2 MHz filters → DCRC55/33/50.
Overnight: the Y-88 source was on the fridge, although there was no sign on the door or note in the run diary to indicate this. It looks as though MIDAS data was taken in typical undocumented fashion: according to the tower temperature flashes were occurring every hour, last flash at 5:54.
0855 Tower/MC(H35)/MC sensor/Cold Plate = 30.9/25.2/41.2/159 mK, Still = 1.36 K / 0.11 mbar, G1/G2 = 120/115 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.69 K / 15 mbar, Main bath = 53.3%
0900 Fill LN cold trap Dewar
0935 Some observations about state that DAQ was left in after MIDAS data-taking: The detector was left in a biased state (-4/+4 V); The bias settings were at exactly -4 V and +4 V, rather than using the calibrated values; DIB1 pA, DIB2 pD, DIB3 pC, and DIB3 pD were railed; DIB1 pD and DIB2 pD had non-standard gain settings (perhaps they had been left at these settings during Friday noise tests and MIDAS was simply returning them to these states after it finished).
0945 Set charge biases to 0 V
1030 Flash 30s.
1110 Start 1000 randoms of 20ms trace length background data with all phonon channels set to Open Loop, all phAs and phBs at transition QET biases, phCs at 400/-400/400uA QET biases (normal resistance), and phDs at 0uA QET biases (superconducting), 0V Qbias FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 2000 events/file. Some channels railed, so Stop Data.
1120 After setting all Driver Offsets to 0 to unrail the channels, Start 1000 randoms of 20ms trace length background data with all phonon channels set to Open Loop, all phAs and phBs at transition QET biases, phCs at 400/-400/400uA QET biases (normal resistance), and phDs at 0uA QET biases (superconducting), 0V Qbias FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 2000 events/file.
1228 New test will be to modify SQUID biases and lockpoints to cut the modulation depth of the phonon channels in half.
Attempting to send triangle waves down the phonon channels doesn't seem to be working.
1247 DIB3's FETs are turned off for some reason? Turn them back on.
LabVIEW freezes while attempting to communicate with the DCRCs. Force quit, and restart all the programs.
1318 Tower temperature has been gradually rising from 30.7mK to 30.8mK during this whole LabVIEW misbehaving nonsense.
1324 No communications are working at this point. Unpower the boards.
1336 Repower DCRCs. Zap and apply settings.
1403 Temperature has risen to ~31mK. Though now it's started falling back to regular levels again.
1405 Test signals are working now. Start modifying the SQUID biases on DIB1 so as to halve the Vpp of the modulation curve:
New DIB1 SQUID Settings (Halved Modulation Depth)
Channel SQUID Bias (uA) Lockpoint (mV) New Modulation Depth (Vpp)
A -55 -2.14 0.155
B -54 -1.46 0.127
C -56 -2.43 0.168
D -54.5 –1.56 0.166
1446 Start data, but w/o setting a trigger file, so Stop data.
1448 Start 1000 randoms of 20ms trace length background data with all phonon channels set to Open Loop, DIB1s SQUID biases and Lockpoints adjusted so that modulation depth was cut in half, and all phAs and phBs at transition QET biases, phCs at 400/-400/400uA QET biases (normal resistance), and phDs at 0uA QET biases (superconducting), 0V Qbias FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 2000 events/file.
1605 Main bath = 40.9%
1610 Commence LHe transfer (38.2%).
1645 Cease LHe transfer (91.1%).
1650 Place Y source inside shield 32cm above detector.
Set all phonon thresholds to 65 ADC Bins.
1700 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1705 Start 16 cycles of 30min runs of Y data at +/-4V, FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 1000 initial randoms, 2000 events/file, 30s flash and 25min cooldown after. Channels railed, so stop data and relock SQUIDs.
1710 Start 16 cycles of 30min runs of Y data at +/-4V, FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 1000 initial randoms, 2000 events/file, 30s flash and 25min cooldown after. One last channel railed, so stop data and adjust Driver Offset.
1712 Start 16 cycles of 30min runs of Y data at +/-4V, FG=5/2/5, OG=3, 1000 initial randoms, 2000 events/file, 30s flash and 25min cooldown after.
