Attenuation Length Measurement
To measure the effective attenuation length of a sample, follow the muon telescope procedure. Then, after each run, move the muon cross-section (composed of the top and bottom scintillators) down the length of the middle sample. I usually did 2cm increments. There should be about 500-1000 data points per data file to get good statistics. Plot the number of PE detected as a function of distance and fit the graph with an exponential.
