PS Attenuation Length Impact on Effective Att. L.
| Scint Att. Length | Overall Att. Length (cm) |
|---|---|
| 0.2 m | 3.8 +/- 0.2 |
| 0.5 m | 5.7 +/- 0.2 |
| 1 m | 7.3 +/- 0.3 |
| 2.5 m | 9.1 +/- 0.3 |
| 5 m | 9.7 +/- 0.3 |
| 10 m | 10.7 +/- 0.3 |
| 100 m | 11.6 +/- 0.4 |
Plotting the points at the 9 cm alone can give a measure of the impact of the PS Att. Leng. on the light collection efficiency of the system. This has been plotted below:
Backside Mask Reflectivity Impact on Effective Att. L.
| Back Reflectivity | Overall Att. Length (cm) |
|---|---|
| 0 | 9.1 +/- 0.3 |
| 0.1 | 9.6 +/- 0.3 |
| 1 | 33.5 +/- 0.8 |
| Experiment | 14.1 +/- 1.1 |
Default settings (true if otherwise not noted or changed): PS Att. Leng = 2.5m
Back Mask Reflectivity = 0.0 (nonreflective)
Geometry: 11 cm long cylindrical plastic scintillator, 2.5 cm diameter, wrapped in PTFE (no WLS fiber)
Discussion
The 0.1 reflective back seems to not quite respond linearly in terms of photon peak (the response is slightly weaker than linear). Also, the maximum effective attenuation length seems to approach a maximum value as you increase the quality of the plastic scintillator.
