Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Himangshu, Yan
0900 The lab desktop has been shutdown. Restarting temperature monitoring programs. The temperature is still stable at 77K.
0920 The LN tank is empty. Need to refill. and need to refill the cold trap soon!
0940 Close V8, V1, turn on the 3He dump, and open V3, V5, V2 to pump the mixture back to the dump. (condenser speedivalve and still gatevalve is open.)
0955 Prepare to pump out IVC. First turn on scroll, open the scroll valve to pump out the IVC, then switch to turbo after 5 min. After switching to turbo, pressure gauge is reading 2e-4 mbar.
1030 Close V3, 5, 2, 9. Turn off He3 pump.
1035 turbo pressure gauge is reading 2e-5 mbar.
1250 MC temperature slowly increased from 77.24 K to 77.29 K. So we expect 0.05K/2 hours, so it will be 12*0.05=~0.6 K tomorrow noon time.
1440 Refill LN2 dewar from Refill Room Main Line
1503 Leak Detector on IVC = 1.5e-7 mbar L/s

Throughput test procedure, Cold Trap 1:
  1. All mixture in dump, LN2 trap 1 is cold, condenser & still valves open (3He pump on - optional)
  2. Open V9, V13a, V12a+speedivalve, V3. Wait for G1 to be close to G2 (within 100 mbar).
  3. Close V12a+speedivalve and V3, open V1
  4. monitor G1
1600 Perform mixture throughput test at MC = 77 K using above procedure with 3He pump on. Let G1 rise to 568 mbar before Step 3, then it falls to ~60 mbar, then rises. Throughput = 43.47 mbar/min.
1620 Start another round of cryocleaning.
1905 Collect mix back into the dump and let cold trap slowly warm to room temperature.
