Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt
Status Run 75 in progress
Setup Tower Faces 5/3/2 → Cables 2/1/3 → nothing/diverter_board/nothing → DCRC55(1)/DCRC50(3)/DCRCx(4)
Lead shield in place. Am Source y = 10.05 mm
1115 Goldman = 48.2 mK
We'll try a hot Al flash to see if we can fix Side2pD which seems like it may have trapped flux (very reduced phonon collection efficiency).
LEDs are connected to DCRC1. Standard PulseWidth/RepRate = 100/5000. We'll increase the duty cycle by changing to 100/500.
1125 Flash DCRC1 LEDs with rep rate reduced from 5000 to 500 for 1 minute
No temperature increase… something is wrong. Current is set to 0.6 mA, lets' try -0.6 mA.
1130 Flash DCRC1 LEDs with rep rate reduced from 5000 to 500 for 1 minute, this time with -0.6 mA
Still no temperature increase
1135 Tried flashing DCRC3 and DCRC4. Still nothing.
1150 OK just noticed that DAQ programs aren't running (DCRCdriver, TowerFE, TriggerFE). Must have been a crash since last night.
1155 Got DAQ programs running again (had to disable and reenable various DCRCs several times)
1200 Flash DCRC1 LEDs for 1 minute with rep rate reduced from 5000 to 500
Goldman peaks at 0.43 K
1205 Flash DCRC1 LEDs for 5 minutes with rep rate reduced from 5000 to 500
Goldman peaks at 0.49 K
Actually, I've been using the DCRC Control tools in the user interface to flash, and this sequence seems to set rep rate to standard 5000. So let's just turn on the LEDs “manually” at the ODB.
1215 Turn on DCRC1 LEDs with rep rate reduced from 5000 to 500
Goldman =1.26 K after 2 minutes. Just right for driving the Al normal.
Turn off LEDs after 3 minutes. Tower starts cooling.
1305 Goldman = 52 mK and cooling
1400 Restart MIDAS because I don't think everything was running - “mserver” and “lazylogger” weren't running. I couldn't get SQUIDtuningGUI.exe to connect, maybe that was why.
1430 Goldman = 49.2 mK. Adjust QET biases based on mini-IbIs trends versus temperature to target dP/dI = 1.0 uV on all channels.
QET biases = 245.5/319.1/279.9/184.3/164.3/165.2/218.3/0/209.2/150.6/259.7/193.5
Adjust driver offsets so all baselines are around -0.9 to -1.0 V
1429 Start 0V data series, 36 min long, with 1000 initial randoms, no in-run randoms, trigger on DCRC3pB threshold 10.
Start series with the Start Button.
1440 Goldman = 49.1 mK. Do in-run QET bias adjustment.
QET biases = 245.8/319.3/280.3/184.6/164.6/165.5/218.4/0/209.5/150.8/260/193.8
1455 Goldman = 49.0 mK. Do in-run QET bias adjustment.
QET biases = 246/319.6/280.6/185/164.9/165.8/218.6/0/209.7/151/260.2/194.1
Taking a look at this data it seems that Side2pD has recovered its PCE. The hot Al flash worked!
1535 Goldman/Tower/MC(H35)/Coldplate = 48.9/91.3/38.2/211 mK, Still = 1.68±0.03 K / 0.120 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2= 252/238 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.62 K / 18±1 mbar, MB = 60.4%.
1540 Fill LN2 cold trap bath

Source position analysis:

  • Comparing today's data to the y=0 data, it's clear that the source is now closer to pC and farther from pD on both sides, therefore it's in the +y direction
    • Side1pC partition is higher, Side1&2pD are partition are lower. (Side2pC partition didn't change much.)
    • Side1&2pC times are earlier, Side1pD time is a little later. (But Side2pD is earlier, strange.)
  • We got to the current position with negative steps, so apparently -steps = +y_direction. Which is toward the far endstop. (I thought it was wired the same as Run74 but I guess not.)
