Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Derek, Himangshu
Status Run 75 prep.
All mixture is in dump. Fridge isolated. 1K Pot isolated. LN2 Trap 2 still has contaminants in it. MB in pit, clean tent erected. Cryostat vacuum jacket (CVJ) pumped out. IVC open. Tower removed.
1400 Yesterday I removed all Kapton tape from the Tower thermometer wire. Today I cut it down to about 1/3 the previous length and soldered a new connector to the end (0.1“ pitch female - Samtec? - to mate with plug in fridge). Took a while to figure out the color of the wires. Plugged it into fridge wire as a test, at LakeShore it read 1 kOhm as it should.
1600 The Goldman thermometer has a small 0.06” pitch male connector. We don't have anything to mate with that. Plan is to replace with 0.1“ pitch female connector, same as for the Tower thermometer, then make 4 wires with pins on each end. These will plug into Goldman connector on one side, Tower face on other side.

Looks like 11.5” would be a good length for the wires for the Goldman thermometer. Trying to decide whether to use 32 AWG wire, which seems about as thin as the other thermometer wire, or the thicker 28 AWG we use for the phonon twisted pairs.
1700 Prepare four 28 AWG wires with pins on both ends for use with the thermometer.
