Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Giulia and Matt
Status Run 74 in progress. First cooldown after IVC rebuild.
Tower thermometer is reading high, probably this is a thermometer problem and the actual temperature is much lower. High noise in some of the charge channels.
Setup: DIB1/2+acc → SL 41/43 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2/3 → nothing/Source_mover_board+HV_diverter_board → DCRC50(3)/55(1). Kepco 40V supplye → HV BNC. Lead shield erected, 4 walls. Currently both DCRCs are on.
Position of Am source: y = 0.0 mm
0829 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 124.3/34.0/188.3 mK, Still = 1.27 K / 0.070 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2= 286.9/266.6 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.57 K / 10±1 mbar. MB = 74.0%.
0836 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0825 At 10kHz noise in DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO = 20.0/3.7/4.0/73 8e-6. This is q3/q1/q4/q2
At 3kHz (peak) noise in DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO = 126/24/17.2/260 e-6
Noise is as slightly higher than yesterday.
0842 Start 213 min series of 0V/-8V (bias applied after 60 sec), with 1000 beginning randoms, trigger threshold 95/50/35/290 on DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO, 5Hz in-run randoms, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
Start sequence with Start button.
This data series was a miscommunication - Matt asked Giulia for -8V/0V data, which would be done with the sequencer, but instead she started 0V/-8V data externally biased.
1215 Dial HV down to 0V and flash for 5 minutes with DCRC1&3 LEDs.
1330 There's some problem with cdms1 and cdms3 - the DAQ interface is frozen, and currently you can't log into those machines with x-forwarding, and you can't sudo into spa-u-cdmssoft. So we are kinda stuck.
1610 Some problems are fixed - sudo works now and I'm able to start MIDAS. But there's some problem with my (Matt's) account, I can't write to my home directory, and this I think is making x-forwarding connections not work for me. I had Jack open a terminal to cdms1 on jiajin with x-forwarding, so now we can get the pulse viewer. (We tried to do it on the fridge computer with PuTTY but this didn't work for Jack for some reason.)
1615 This problem is now fixed - apparently I had exceeded my quota and couldn't write to my home directory…
1625 Put Ba-133 source in plastic cup, lower down into shield. Source is at detector level and ~2 inches from the mu-metal shield
Tried to start data but it didn't work - I think because I started the sequence without stopping the temporary run. Need to set biases back to 0V and flash.
1635 Set Side 1 biases back to 0V and flash DCRC1&3 LEDs for 60 seconds.
1647 Start 45 min series of +8V/0V (bias applied after 60 sec), with Ba-133 source present, with 1000 beginning randoms, trigger threshold 80/40/35/250 on DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO, 5Hz in-run randoms, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
Use Sequencer script r74_takeandflash_dcrcbias.msl. This flashes for 30 seconds at end of series.
Note: started this series kinda soon after the flash, Tower ~ 150 mK, not quite to base ~ 100 mK
1735 Return Ba-133 source to safe
2110 Start 45 min series of -8V/0V (bias applied after 60 sec), with 1000 beginning randoms, trigger threshold 150/40/30/350 on DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO, 5Hz in-run randoms, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
Use Sequencer script r74_takeandflash_dcrcbias.msl. This flashes for 30 seconds at end of series.
this data didn't write, don't know why.
oh - actually it looks like it wrote to /livedata but the lazy logger wasn't running.
07210908_2110. Charge collection efficiency is surprisingly low.
