Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Pramod, Matt
Status Run 74 in progress. First cooldown after IVC rebuild.
Tower thermometer is reading high, probably this is a thermometer problem and the actual temperature is much lower. High noise in some of the charge channels.
Setup: DIB1/2+acc → SL 41/43 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2/3 → nothing/Source_mover_board+HV_diverter_board → DCRC50(3)/55(1). Kepco 40V supplye → HV BNC. No lead/poly shield. (Currently DCRCs off, only source mover board plugged into Cable 3)
1318 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 78.7/34.75 /190 mK, Still = 1.36 K / 0.075 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2= 220/202 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.627 K / 20±2 mbar. MB = 23.6%
1322 Fill LN2 cold trap bath.
1403 Begin LHe transfer @ MB = 22.4%
1440 End LHe transfer @ MB = 90.1%
1600 Check noise in the charge channels: the 3kHz oscillations are much lower!
1605 At 10kHz noise in DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO = 1.3/1.3/1.6/2.1 e-6. This is q3/q1/q4/q2
At 3kHz (peak) noise in DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO = 6.0/2.1/3.5/10 e-6
All significantly better than before.
At 3kHz the noise is lower than yesterday by a factor of 7/3/2/10
1619 Start 5 min series of 0V/-15V (bias applied after 1 min), with 1000 beginning randoms, trigger threshold 35/25/30/35 on DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO, 5Hz in-run randoms, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
Start sequence with Start button.
unfortunately it started triggering constantly, seems like the triggering is messed up again. The DCRCs are buggy when it comes to triggering. Had to turn off triggering, then just stopped the series early.
Mess with triggers again - now they're fine. Well, guess we'll take some data even though the detector has been biased for a while.
1628 Start 45 min series of 0V/-15V (bias has already been on for 9 minutes), with 1000 beginning randoms, trigger threshold 35/25/30/35 on DCRC3qI/qO/DCRC1qI/qO, 5Hz in-run randoms, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
Start sequence with Start button.
OK this data looks pretty good.
