2018/07/09 (Monday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → 3.2 MHz filters 2/3/1 → cable 3/1/2 → gender changer 3/?/2 → HVConn 1/3/2 → HV 1/2 → DCRC55(1)/DCRC50(3)
0910 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 30.1/29.3/180 mK, Still = 1.4 K / 0.150 mbar / 2 mW, G1/G2 = 170/159 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.66 K / 38 mbar. MB = 47.6%
0915 Fill LN2 cold trap bath.
0945 Still unable to get DAQ programs to run if DCRC4 is enabled
Turn off DAQ programs and power cycle DCRC4. Then turn on DAQ programs with DCRC4 enabled. Looks like it worked.
1006 Set HV=40V using sequence changeHV_0_40.msl
1358 Start LHe transfer @ MB = 40.8%
1447 End LHe transfer @ MB = 91.3%
During transfer G1/G2 went up, G1 170→200 mbar. Tower temperature went down about 2 mK then wiggled then spiked to 32 then settled at 29.8 mK, less than the 31.3 mK before transfer.
1500 Erect South shield wall with NaI detectors mounted. No Pb added yet.
1515 Adjust driver offsets on all 6 channels in preparation for IbIs
1515 HV = 39.77 V, Vtest = 13.7 mV, Vdetector = 34.3 V. Vtest was 33 mV earlier, before we turned on the purge.
1520 Increase N2 purge to Ebox a little bit. HV leakage is falling.
1535 HV = 39.77 V, Vtest = 5.35 mV, Vdetector = 37.6 V.
1535 Tower = 29.9 mK
somewhere here, before 16:45, PuBe neutron source removed from PAN43. Built lead castle in red box in PAN443 and moved source there.
1537 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pA, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
1605 At end of sequence Tower temperature rose to 30.4 mK then fell again
1605 HV = 39.77 V, Vtest = 4.46 mV, Vdetector = 38.0 V.
1605 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pB, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
1650 Tower temperature and Condenser have been creeping up in steps, troubling.
Tower = 31.1 mK, G1/G2 = 205/189 mbar
1654 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pC, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
1700 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
1750 HV = 39.78 V, Vtest = 4.15 mV, Vdetector = 38.1 V.
1750 Tower = 31.5 mK
1753 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pB, from 300 to 50 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
1845 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pC, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
This one failed toward the end because apparently the MIDAS DAQ locked up. This has happened before, seems we can only run a certain number of IbIs sequences in a row.
1900 Tower temperature rose again for some reason, now Tower = 33.3 mK
2012 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pC, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
Looks like all channels except DCRC3pD have railed. So this sequence needs to be repeated.
2046 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pD, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
2030 Start test series of randoms to remotely try to recover DCRC3pC
relocked it, looks like that got it back
2238 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pC, from 450 to 200 step -2 uA, HV = 40 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
Tower temperature has stepped up and down several times, ranging between 30 and 33 mK. Seems to be affected by running IbIs sequences but I don't understand why.
2320 Ok got a good set of IbIs now.
Dial HV down to 0 V using sequence changeHV_40_0
