Previous Day

Status Slowly cooling to base since last week. 1K Pot keeps running low, need to keep opening needle valve.
1830 MC/Tower/Cold Plate: 35.9/51.6/186 mK. Still: 1.09 K / 40 μbar. G1/G2: 105/110mbar. 1K Pot: 1.43K / 1.7 mbar. Main bath = 43.4%
Tower temperature somewhat unstable overnight. Open 1K Pot needle valve additional 5 degrees.
0840 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0845 MC/Tower/Cold Plate: 32.1/45.6/183 mK. Still: 1.18 K / 65 μbar. G1/G2: 135/140mbar. 1K Pot: 1.65K / 16 mbar.
Cooling power curve
0850 Apply 5 μW power to MC. after 5 minutes, MC/Tower/Coldplate → 44.0/54.7/182 mK
0900 MC → 10 μW. after 5 minutes, MC/Tower/Coldplate → 56.5/65.6/183 mK
0910 MC → 20 μW. after 15 minutes, MC/Tower → 71.4/79.4 mK
0930 MC → 50 μW. after 15 minutes, MC/Tower → 101.1/104.0 mK
0950 Turn off MC heat
1050 Power on DCRCs. DCRC55 attached to DIB1, DCRC50 attached to DIB2.
Current Setup: EBox → Cables → Gender Swapper → 3.2MHz Filter → DCRC.
Zap SQUIDs for old times' sake.
1110 Flash detector for 30s (i.e. minibake).
Had to set LED currents to +0.6mA instead of negative in order to get the LEDs to function properly.
1140 Charge channels show only white noise - no pulses. Apply -/+4V to detector. Charge channels show jagged noise - no pulses, which looks somewhat like charge breakdown. Bake the crystal for 10 minutes.
1225 Set both sides of the detector to +/+4V and look at charge channels. DIB1 Qi shows mainly white noise, with some hint of pulses. All the other three charge channels show good pulses.
1235 Start 30min background series at +/+4V with 30s flash and 25min cooldown beforehand. Triggering on DIB1 Qo at 30ADC bins.
1400 Logger wasn't on, so no data from that series… Turn on logger, reset charge bias to +/+4V, and Start 30min background series at +/+4V with 30s flash and 25min cooldown beforehand. Triggering on DIB1 Qo at 30ADC bins. No randoms before or after.
As mentioned above, Flash script automatically writes an LED current of -0.6mA, so I had to manually change it after the script started flashing. I quickly went to the ODB → Equipment → Tower1 → Settings → DCRC(x) → LED and changed the LED Current settings from -0.6mA to +0.6mA. Since the Flash script was still flashing the detector, this immediately caused the detector to heat up. This is not a solution that will work for overnight data taking.
1515 Begin LHe transfer. (32.4%).
1555 Cease LHe transfer. (95.6%).
1600 Increase DIB1 Qo trigger to 40ADC bins. Start 30min background series at +/+4V with 30s flash and 25min cooldown beforehand. Triggering on DIB1 Qo at 40ADC bins. 1000 randoms before and after.
1650 Release pressure in main bath.
In the flashandflash.py script discussed in the MIDAS Sequencer Section, I found a section that created the MSL sequence file for the Flash And Flash sequence. In those three lines of code, were hardcoded the 0.1, 5.0, and -0.6 that correspond to the flash-on time, flash-off time (both in seconds), and the LED current in mA. I switched the -0.6 to a positive 0.6, and made a comment in the file to make it clear what I had done. Using the flash and flash function on the MIDAS webpage now properly flashes the detector.
1715 Open 1K Pot needle valve additional 5 degrees. Pressure had fallen to 1.5 mbar.
1730 Start 15 hours of 2hour background series at +/+4V with 2min flash and 28min cooldown in between. Triggering on DIB1 Qo at 40ADC bins. 1000 randoms before and after.
