2015/06/02 (Tuesday)

Note: SQUET ZC-13 was the one on DIB1 in Run 52, so it may be the source of the interference problem. It should be used on DIB3 in this run because DIB3 has no charge channels, and leaving the FETs unpowered should avoid the problem.

Otherwise we will repeat the orientation of the last run, with the SQUETs swapped between DIBs 1 and 3:

Direction DIB SQUET Stripline Rerouting boards
East DIB1 ZC-23 19 present
West DIB2 ZC-70 27 present
SW DIB3 ZC-13 20 absent

Note that while Stripline 20 has some broken channels, no rerouting boards were used because the broken channels only affect charge readout, and there are no charge channels for DIB3. (This is the same as last run, Run 52.)

1000 Begin installing tower

Minor deviations from procedure:

  • Less taping of the thermometer wire. One “bandaid” (strip of foil tape with a square of Kapton tape in the middle, making a non-sticky section) holding wire from MC to side of 30mK can at bottom. Foil tape holding the Kapton-covered part of the tower wire to the side of the can near bottom, and one more “bandaid” holding the remaining loose end.
  • For the outer ring of the 100mK shield, left off the two screws near the striplines.
  • Did not put any tape around hole for 600mK rod in 100mK shield.

Suggested changes:

  • Long screws attaching adapter plate to 30 mK can should be replaced with brass. Phillips head should work.
  • Can we retap the bad holes in the tower ears? Might as well try.
  • Take the 100mK heat sinks to the shop and round off the corners. Less chance of a touch to tower or IVC.
1200 Finish installing 100mK stage. Break for lunch.
1500 Problem with electrical check. Apparently Stripline 19 has lost another wire: “FET Heater -”, Pin 35 on the SQUET end.

Plan for rerouting Stripline 19:

  1. for SQUET-end rerouting card:
    1. add jumper from Pin 35 (FET Heater -) to Pin 10 (QET A Return #2)
    2. break off Socket 10
  2. for D50-end rerouting card:
    1. jump Pin 5 (QET A Return #2) on the male side (stripline side) to Pin 38 (FET Heater -) on the female side (ebox side)
    2. close switches corresponding to Pin 5 and Pin 38
1720 Both Stripline 19 rerouting cards modified
1830 During electrical checkout, shorts were seen on DIB2 from QET A and QET A Returns (20-50 Ohm) to chassis. A repositioning of DIB2's stripline near the SQUET seemed to fix it - no shorts seen now. All three DIBs pass 300K electrical checkout.
1845 Begin pumping out IVC with scroll pump
1900 Pumping pressure down to 0.19 mbar.
1903 Begin pumping with turbo pump
