Turned off all valves on IGH. Filled LN2 cold trap. Returned cold traps to their respective positions.
Opened manual valves on dump ~ 4 turns.
Fed Cricket 4 pellets.
Begin mixture cleaning.
Pump mixture into dump.
Dump pressure 715 mbar: looks like mixture is pretty clean. Start preparations for cryopumping mixture from He-3 pump's exhaust. Close all valves on IGH followed by manual valves on dump to isolate mixture.
Fed cricket 4 pellets!
Removed mixture from exhaust and left cryopump in liquid helium dewar as this was a temporary transfer.
Photographs of He-3 pump exhaust line and oil mist eliminator are shown in Fig. 1. Removed He-3 pump's oil mist eliminator from exhaust lines and attempted to pry it apart. One socket screw's head is stripped, but was possible to remove it with M4 allen key. However, despite best efforts, could not pry it apart. Roxanne pointed out that it was as though the paint had sealed over the gap, perhaps due to the heat. Jianjie suggests contacting Oxford Instruments to see if they can provide details.
Looking at the plumbing, I'm not sure I understand why the eliminator has a NW16 port. The He-3 pump's exhaust is of size NW40 and the pump has a pumping speed of 65 m3/h (38 CFM). The pump's manual states that the exhaust line should be of at least the same size as the connection port on the pump as a narrower exhaust line can create overpressure in the pump. Having said that, the mixture is not at atmosphere so this is probably fine. Additionally, there is a safety valve at the pump's exhaust before the filter.
Insert socket head screws and place oil mist eliminator back in its original place. Perhaps we should consider purchasing another one.
Feed mixture from cryopump back into IGH. Start cryocleaning mixture.
