201302/10

0015 Filled LN2 cold trap.
Fed Cricket 4 pellets.
0030 Begin taking data. First flash for 20 min, then cool down for 60 min. Dibs 1 and 2 are at +/- 4 V bias. At each bias there is a 30 min series, followed by 6 seconds of flashing and 20 minutes of cool down. There will be 20 of these series. End with 30 min of flashing, 30 min of cool down. Trigger on phonon channels A1, B1, C1, D2, C3 on Side1 at 25 ADC bins each. Trace length: 3.2768 ms. Cf-252 source is out for data taking.

5 Channels QET biases were modified to take above data:

Ch. New QET bias (uA)
A1 -77
A2 -71
A3 -51
B3 -61
D3 -80
1222 Stopped data taking. Data is not good. Source seems to be too close.
Filled LN2 cold trap.
Fed Cricket 4 pellets.
1230 Start flashing detector with Dib 1 only.
1300 Stop flashing detector.
1412 Spent the past couple of hours setting up the boards again with new Trigger and DAQ settings (getting rid of outer channels and fixing A1) to take Cf-252 data. Unfortunately, the event rate is extremely low (~ 2-3 Hz). The Cf-252 source was swapped out for the Ba-133 source, and that rate was even lower (<1 Hz).
Quite certain this has to do with the DAQ itself. The pulses on the detector readout definitely register a placement of a source near the fridge.
1658 With the Ba-133 source I tried to do an “and” trigger configuration to see if that would increase the stats. It wasn't really a significant improvement.
Board 31 is has very noisy channels. I removed all triggers for board 33. I also set the driver offset for Ch. A1 back to 0 because it didn't actually help (though the baseline was around -0.65 V). The current trigger rate with the Ba-133 source is ~ 5 Hz. Not sure how this compares to the run with G103a.
1730 Conducted various, yet brief, tests with different trigger settings with and without using dib 3, and also limiting to one side of the detector. The Ba-133 source was used because it is less of a threat to keep behind the fridge and work at the computer; once a good configuration is found for Ba-133, the Cf-252 source will be put in its place.
Test # Trigger Settings Trigger Rate (Hz)
1 Side 1 only- no C3 5 +/- 0.2
2 Both sides- no dib 3 4.5 +/- 1
3 Side 1 only - with C3 2.4 +/- 0.2
4 Side 1 only - no C3 4 +/- 0.2
5 Both sides - no dib 3 Fluctuated greatly, but most often around 4-5 Hz, and ranged up to 7 Hz at times
The above table shows some tests done (there weren't only 5) to see the trigger rate. The last are repetitive, and this was done because before test # 3 I started flash consistently for a few seconds before each test to make a better comparison. I hadn't done that with all of the previous tests.
1822 Begin taking data with Cf-252 source. +/- 4 V bias on Dib 1/2. Trigger on both sides of the detector, excluding Dib 3. Flash first for 1 min, cool for 30 min. Then a 30 min series, followed by 30 min of flashing and cool down.
1933 Data set 07130210_1855 looks much better, statistics wise! 12 files (2000 events per file) and 4.2 G total.
2030 Begin LHe transfer (39.3%).
Fed Cricket 4 pellets.
2053 End LHe transfer (90.1%).
2132 Begin taking data with Cf-252 source. Flash first for 20 min, cool for 60 min. 13 series at +/- 4 V bias on Dib 1/2. Trigger on phonon channels on both sides of the detector, excluding Dib 3, at 25 ADC bins. Each series is 30 min, followed by 6 seconds of flashing and 20 min. of cooldown. End with 30 min of flashing and cool down.
