| 0010 | Unplugged DCRC31 to take another look at charge breakdown. Phonon pulses don't look too great. Started zapping SQUIDs. Waiting for cryostat to cool down. |
| 0140 | Pulses still look bad, but it looks more like the SQUIDs need retuning, especially on Side 2. Perhaps this is due to the slightly lower temperature of 58 mK due to DCRC31 begin unplugged. |
| | Charge breakdown occurs just as it had when DCRC31 wasn't unplugged. Very puzzling: how were we able to take measurements at higher biases during Run 31? |
| | Reset the DAQ and cycle the power on all three boards. Start zapping SQUIDs. |
| | Realised I hadn't fed Cricket for a couple of days! I am awful… fed Cricket 8 pellets to make up for it. He's still alive. |
| 0430 | Through some trickery, managed to get phonon pulses to behave. |
| | Start data acquistion, triggering on phonon channels with 0.4 ms trigger delay and 3.2768 ms trace length. OR phonon trigger threshold 25 ADC bins for all phonon channels, and coincidence time set to 10 μs. Flash for 1 hour, followed by cool down for 2 hours. Then take twenty-four 5-minute data series at -/+2 V bias. Data file length reduced from 10000 to 2000 events. Flash all LEDs for 6 seconds between data series with usual settings, and wait 20 minutes for cryostat to cool. Finish with a 20 minute flash and 2-hour cool down. |
| | Phonon pulses in test data series look good. Trigger rate is a little higher at 16 Hz, but this may be because the detectors have been under bias for a while due to charge breakdown measurements. Flashing for an hour should solve that. |
| 0440 | Take advantage of detector flash to fill N2 cold trap partially full; perhaps a litre shy. It's good enough to last until the morning. |
| 1005 | Fed Cricket 3 pellets. |
| 1015 | Break in data taking, filled LN2 cold trap full. |
| 1810 | Fed Cricket 4 pellets. |
| 2235 | Data files taken yesterday seem to have correct acquisition time stamps. It looks like reducing the number of events in each file to ensure more than one file is taken in each series has done the trick. |
| 2240 | Fill N2 cold trap full. |
| 2255 | Take Cf-252 source out of safe. Will send email to group. |
| | Start data acquistion with Cf-252 source, triggering on phonon channels with 0.4 ms trigger delay and 3.2768 ms trace length. OR phonon trigger threshold 25 ADC bins for all phonon channels, and coincidence time set to 10 μs. Flash for 6 seconds, followed by cool down for 20 minutes. Then take twenty-four 5-minute data series at +/-3 V bias. Data file length reduced from 10000 to 2000 events. Flash all LEDs for 6 seconds between data series with usual settings, and wait 20 minutes for cryostat to cool. Finish with a 20 minute flash and 2-hour cool down. |
| | Phonon pulses in test data set look fine. Saw quite a lot of pile-up, so moved source from 3“ below top of mu-metal shield to top of mu-metal shield. Seems to have helped. Trigger rate is around 13-14 Hz. |
