Finished installing tower and sealed IVC. Begin pumping on IVC.
IVC pressure: 4.6E-5 mbar.
IVC pressure 3.4E-5 mbar.
Tighten bottom flange and perform helium leak check. Background leak rate 4.2E-9 mbar l/s. Spray test yields no change.
Helium leak checker exhibits some strange behaviour. Leak rate jumped to about 3E-7 mbar l/s when fan covering dewar was unplugged. Then gradually decreased back to 4.2E-9 mbar l/s. The same thing happened while hooking up the dewar to the pulley. The fan was unplugged from the same adapter as that connected to the leak checker. While hooking up the dewar to the pulley, a foot may have knocked the connection between the adapter and extension. A little concerning; such things should not happen. We'll know for sure if this is a leak once we've raised the dewar and filled it with helium gas.
Raise dewar. Pump and flush main bath. Helium leak rate gradually increased from 4.1E-9 mbar l/s to 5.8E-9 mbar l/s, then gradually decreased to 4.8E-9 mbar l/s. Possible small leak well within acceptable parameters. Time will tell if it is a cryoleak. As this is a short run we can live with a cryoleak at 1E-6 mbar l/s.
Evacuate 1 K pot.
Fill IVC with 46 mbar N2 exchange gas (a little too much, but we should be able to pump it out before it liquifies).
Commence nitrogen transfer.
Liquid nitrogen level meter resistance 1.32 kΩ. Nitrogen transfer concluded. Attach ping-pong ball.
Fill N2 cold trap full. Start cryocleaning mixture through nitrogen cold trap 2.
