Updated: Oct 31 2022 Matt and I tried to run the old MIDAS DAQ system on cdms2 and the following commands seem to work as of now. We are still trying to install various parts of the packages such as SQUIDtuningGUI, etc. The package is installed at this location: /data/chocula/cdmssoft/packages To run the MIDAS DAQ, Login as spa-u-cdmssoft user and source the environment variables.
sudo -u spa-u-cdmssoft -i source /data/chocula/cdmssoft/packages/scdmsDAQ/MidasDAQ/setup/umn/cdms2midasUMN.env
The start and stop scripts are located at /data/chocula/cdmssoft/packages/scdms/MidasDAQ/online/bin directory
cd /data/chocula/cdmssoft/packages/scdmsDAQ/MidasDAQ/online/bin ./cdms2_start_daq_umn.sh
Check that all the DAQ programs are closed by typing 'ps -u spa-u-cdmssoft' to list the active running jobs. Most probably, only mserver is running. Retry the above command once more. Hopefully this time all programs will start. mserver will have two instances, leave it that way.
The stop scripts command is
./cdms2_kill_daq_umn.sh
Note: Check that all the DAQ programs are closed by typing 'ps -u spa-u-cdmssoft' to list the active running jobs. If the towerfe3.exe is still running(for example) and has the PID number 3281925 in the prev command output, use 'kill -KILL 3281925' to force kill it.
To view the ODB, open a new terminal and use
ssh -YL 8082:localhost:8082 <username>@cdms2.spa.umn.edu
to redirect local browser calls to the server. Open a new browser locally and type: http://localhost:8082/ to view ODB.
To open the PulseViewer, login as a regular user on a different terminal window
The below note is regarding new DAQ which is still in developmental phase. I have installed the SuperCDMS_DAQ (also referred to as Midas DAQ) v5.2.2 on the cdms2 server (location: /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats/packages). You can use the following commands to start the DAQ.
cd /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats source midas_setup.sh
The above command will set the environment variables needed for MidasDAQ. Next goto the SuperCDMS_DAQ directory to start the DAQ
cd /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats/packages/SuperCDMS_DAQ ./scripts/start_daq.sh
The terminal should print something like “Becoming a daemon” several times. The port is 8082 to view the ODB. You can tunnel your pc browser to the cdms2 8082 port to use the ODB in your browser.
ssh -YL 8082:localhost:8082 neog0001@cdms2.spa.umn.edu
Open a new tab in your local browser and type localhost:8082 to access the web-interface. To stop the DAQ, use the following line of code
./scripts/kill_daq.sh
Updated: Aug 4 2023
The new Midas DAQ runs in cdms1 now. Login to cdms1.spa.umn.edu using your cdms account. Goto /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats/ and source the midas_setup.sh script. To run the DAQ:
cd /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats/packages/SuperCDMS_DAQ ./scripts/start_daq.sh
Open the windows command prompt and type: ssh -YL 8080:localhost:8080 <user>@cdms1.spa.umn.edu to view the ODB in your local browser. Open MobaXterm application and ssh into cdms1 to use the PulseViewer. To run the Pulse Viewer:
source midas_setup.sh cd /data/chocula/test_cdmsbats/packages/SuperCDMS_DAQ/MidasTools/GUI ./PulseViewer.exe
