- Lab Update
- Scenarios for fridge operation:
- Scenario 1: Pumped out IVC, at 77K, we see a leak: 1K to IVC, Main Bath to IVC, Circulation loop to IVC(Sorb).
- Warmup and look for a fix.
- Scenario 2: No leak at 77K, proceed to 4K with no mix in loop. Check for leak, 1K to IVC, Main Bath to IVC, Circulation loop to IVC(Sorb). If leak, warmup.
- Scenario 3: No leak at 4K. Proceed with cooldown.
- If we find a cold leak below 77K, we need to remove sorb for leak checking the circulation loop.
- Hypothesis: No leak scenario possible if we didn't pump out efficiently the exchange gas closer to 10K. We would never be able to get down to 50 mK if there is a cold leak. Prof. Paul suggested start pumping >10K. Current turbo pump takes longer to pump out the IVC. Spare roughing pump available now to switch in the earlier turbo pump. We will reassemble that turbo pump and try to get it working this time.
