  • Lab Update - Run 82 preparation
    • Status : Fridge is warm.
    • After soldering on the loose pins on ZC39 and ZC31, ZC39 seem to be holding electrical connection well while ZC31 still seems flaky. We will use ZC39 with 2 working phonon channels. This will mean a full Side2 readout.
    • Opened up the IGH Dsub connector and routed Pins 1,2 (Sorb), 3,4(1K pot) to the Lakeshore 372.
    • Still_Coldplate_1Kpot.vi will be the new Labview VI which can read 1K pot as well. We will be using the H35 calibration VI for this run since both are RuOx thermometers (and hence similar calibration curve).
    • Tried moving source mover without opening the fridge further but donot see a reading on Xendstop. This can either mean no movement or the Xendstop connection issue. I will look into this further today.
    • Plan is to start pumping as soon as we can close the IVC bottom.
    • DAQ:
      • Good news: RevE DCRC is fine.
      • Bad news: 100 pin connector at the cable adaptor is inverted
      • DCRC RevE expects following configuration
      • What we have at the adaptor board
      • This caused a confusion as to what pin configuration was at the DCRC end. Probing correct pins gives expected measurement.
      • In principle, it is an easy fix…. simple invert the connector. However, desoldering 100 pins from the board was a pain….
      • Now, we see another problem: few pair of pins show short e.g. D7 (SQ_0) and D8 (TES_BIAS_0).
      • We should fabricate a new board.
    • Accelerometers:
      • Successfully tested all four piezos. They respond to vibrations.
      • The CDMS acoustic receiver board requires register reset everytime it is turned on. If it is not done, then it does not provide any excitation biases to the piezos.
      • Next step: Characterize the frequecy response.
        • Tie the piezos to the vibrating system (e.g. vacuum pumps) and perform a FFT analysis.
