- Lab Update - Run 81 started
- Unable to reach base temperature after multiple tries:
- Still does not go below 1 K
- MC does not go below 0.9 K
- Probable reasons:
- 1K pot : Not cooling returning He3 effectively. We have also observed that we have a slight higher pressure (> 40 mbar) in 1K pot even by opening needle valve by a tiny amount (nominal < 20 mbar).
- Incorrect mix amount in the lines : Documents say if still heats up sharply after applying the heater means still is running dry BUT it also says not to increase condenser pressure by > 200 mbar to avoid overloading 1K pot. I haven't found any documentation after the change of GHS. Working on previous numbers and documentations.
- Clogged traps? : LN2 traps havent been cleaned since the start of the run AFAIK. However G1 and G2 pressures doesn't seem to go haywire.
- Not optimal circulation of the mix : Don't know if the throughput was done.
- Not good vacuum in the IVC : Turbo may not pumping out effectively.
- Reached out to Prof Paul. He suspects needle-valve might have ice formed around it therefore it is not acting as “needle-valve”. We might have to warm up to 77 K.
