  • Lab Update - Run 76 in progress
    • NaI spectrum taken over a couple of days (one bin at a time)
      • full-array spectrum of single-detector energies
      • taken with PuBe present in standard position
      • first NaI scan since the recalibration a while ago
    • sharp peaks between 11 and 12 MeV
      • these are saturation peaks. Each detector will have a saturation amplitude; all events at that energy or above will appear in one bin
      • Noticed that the upper threshold I've been using is too high at 11.2 MeV - this includes some saturation peaks, so it wasn't cutting out muons
      • Redoing NaI-coincident data now with upper threshold reduced to 11 MeV
      • Reduced upper edge will do two things
        1. reduce trigger rate from around 11 Hz to around 8 Hz and thus reduce accidental background overall
        2. eliminate muon-related coincident events (at least for through-going muons)
